PBIS

The Sullivan Middle School is a P.B.I.S school.

What is PBIS?

P.B.I.S stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports.  Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based three-tiered framework for improving and integrating all of the data, systems, and practices affecting student outcomes every day. It is a way to support everyone – especially students with disabilities – to create the kinds of schools where all students are successful.

Specifically, the Sullivan School follows a rubric of expectations around the school and in the classrooms that centers on Sullivan Scholars being safe, responsible, respectful, and kind.  Sullivan faculty and staff present Husky High Five cards to students showing these school-wide expectations. Husky High Five cards are chosen daily for a small prize, while monthly winners are chosen for a bigger prize. Grade-level teachers and teams will also provide incentives for students who are following expectations. 

In addition, we will be focusing on specific themes each month. Students will be learning about the themes and staff members will be recognizing our students who are consistently meeting our expectations.

Through PBIS, Sullivan Scholars will learn the importance of being a responsible member of the Sullivan School Community!
